Music: Stromae

I first heard Stromae when Alors On Danse came onto the French language station I created on Pandora.
His beats and rhymes are so smooth and addictive.
Plus it’s good for my French comprehension.
He’s Belgian and his parents are Rwandan.
His music has so many deep emotions flowing through it.
Basically, he’s a lot of fun to listen to.

Music: The Mars Volta

Two songs by The Mars Volta that I like. The first, Inertiatic ESP, is one of their more famous songs, and the first song that drew me to them. The second, Since We’ve Been Wrong, is a softer more meditative song that conveys their brilliance. Their music is psychedelic rock that was an offshoot of the emo rock movement (formed by former members of the emo band At The Drive-In).

Music: Nina Nesbitt Stay Out

I’ve been listening to a lot of Nina Nesbitt recently.
And I would like to dedicate this song to my youngest sister, on the eve of her departure.
She is going to have such an amazing time studying abroad and I am so proud of her!
So in honor of all the fun she is going to have, and all the adventures she will go on, I present, this song:

Music: Radiohead Everything Remixed

So this is the song that made me fall in love with Radiohead.
I had never heard a song other than Creep.
And technically this is a remix, but the beauty of the original song creeps up on you.
And now I love Radiohead, not just this remix.

I somehow had a better quality version than this (around 2003) that I can no longer find, and you can’t seem to buy it online.
And it was an even better version, musically, than the below youtube version. hm. Mysterious.

It is so hauntingly beautiful.

Better quality version, audio only, on Grooveshark.

And the most well known Hybrid song (at least according to me; it’s the one I’ve heard the most).

Music: JT Suit and Tie

Justin Timberlake – Suit and Tie (feat Jay Z)

A well done song, just kind of boring.
So this video makes this song much better.
Someone get Justin Timberlake a Fred Astaire inspired movie STAT!

Music: Camille

Camille, is a French singer songwriter whom I love.

I bought her first 3 albums on Amazon:

Le Sac Des Filles
Le Fil
Music Hole

I heard about her from a friend of mine in my French program when I was abroad for a year in Paris.
And I think Camille is great, so check her out!

TV: Favorite TV Show Intros/Opening Credits

  1. The Killing
  2. Luther
  3. Downton Abbey
  4. Skins (UK, of course)
  5. Lost (iconic)
  6. Doctor Who
  7. True Blood
  8. Fringe
  1. White Collar Season 3
  2. So You Think You Can Dance
  3. Grimm Season 2
  4. Covert Affairs

Meh, but not bad, aka sometimes I don’t mind sitting through them:

  1. Misfits
  2. Awake (similar, not the real intro)
  3. New Girl
  4. Smash
  5. Missing
  6. Scandal
  7. Once Upon a Time
  8. Being Erica
Current or recent TV shows only.
Also, these are only picked from shows I actually watch.
Some of which have been canceled, LAME (specifically Awake).
I found this YouTube channel of “The Best Openings”. Relative/subjective use of “best”, but interesting, and lots of intros in one place to peruse.
